Inklings of 3-year-old genius
Last week, Isaac and Jacob were trying to listen to snippets of Star Wars music on the iTunes Store. Daddy and I wouldn't help them. Isaac knows how to type "Star Wars" in the search bar, but he gets fussy about doing it on his own. Daddy came in the room to see that "star" had been correctly typed.
"Isaac! Good job, buddy!" said Daddy.
Isaac shook his head. "No, it was Jakey. Jakey typed it."
Daddy: "Jacob, did you type "star" on the computer?"
Jake: "Yep."
-------------------------------------------
Yesterday at the grocery store, Jacob got behind the wheel of a car carts and pointed at the letters on the horn, spelling "Bean". The wheel was rotated such that the letters were upside down. "Mommy," he said, pointing to the letter 'a' in 'Bean', "is this 'a' upside down?"
-------------------------------------------
We checked out a chapter book of Star Wars, a retelling of A New Hope, from the library on Monday. It doesn't have many pictures and it seems to bore the crap out of Jake, even though he insists I turn the pages toward him at all times. At one point I tired of holding the book up, and laid it book flat on the table, reading from it so that the text was upside down to the boys. Not once did I follow along with my finger.
After I finished reading a section of dialogue, Jacob reached over and pointed clearly at a quotation mark. "See these dots, Isaac? That's what the guys are saying."
