Isaac's birthday party

Isaac and I brainstormed the idea of turning his birthday party into a "meeting of the Junior Inventors' League". After the overpopulated fiasco of last year's party, he chose a guest list of his three best preschool friends (Evan, David, and Leah), as well as our new buddies from down the street (Sylvia and Elliott).

The first guests arrive and really get into a boy-friendly show on the History Channel involving warships:

I explain what's going on: you can go out on the porch and make robots out of my trash; you can create playdoh masterpieces with Meemaw's massive playdoh collection in the kitchen, and eventually we will reconvene in the dining room to invent our own cupcakes.

Mamaw and David pose with their robot:

Elliot is absorbed in the contruction of his robot:

Isaac's robot creation:

Evan and Leah's brother David assault Isaac's robot with water pistols:

Denice and the other parents help with cupcake creation. 2 cupcake flavors, 3 icing colors, sprinkles, jimmies, jellybeans = endless combinations.

Isaac's delicious masterpiece:

TOTALLY stealing the theme of robot-trash-making! Very cool and so earthy. Love it, Claire!
