Jake's birthday

catching up from February 19th

Our Red Robin birthday tradition continues! Good God, that place serves up such huge meals.







I made Jake a cream-cheese frosted carrot cake to really push the dessert factor over the edge. And because, well, one simply must have something over which to sing "Happy Birthday" at home.





Thanks much to Meemaw for the cake decorating tools. It was my first attempt at shaping frosting, and I was pleased.

Meemaw and Poppop came to town a few days later to spend the weekend with the birthday man. We had a small party for him, with the grandparents and our good buddies AnthonyCarlos on Saturday, at which point he enjoyed another birthday cake. This one was much fancier, courtesy of Meemaw's negotiations with the nice ladies at the Acme bakery.
