And on the fourth day, Mommy created swimming pools, and they were good

On this, our last day alone before help arrives in the form of Meemaw and Pawpaw, I managed to jam-pack our schedule with stuff to keep us busy the whole day. The babysitter came over this morning and she and Isaac partied in the sandbox for two whole hours while I sanitized the bathroom and vacuumed all the raisins up from under the couch. After she left, Isaac screamed in his room for a full half-hour when I dared to bring him a little pickle instead of a big pickle to eat, but eventually I coerced him into sitting at the lunch table with me to consume some grilled cheese. Jacob ate lunch with us, too, trying carrots for the first time, which he loved perhaps even more than pears. That's perhaps not saying too much; somehow I doubt Jacob would dislike anything that is meant to be eaten.

After our nap, we met AnthonyCarlos and their mommy at the university pool, which has the most ideal baby pool setup in the history of the world. The baby pool is big but very shallow, has lots of low chairs for lounging with your feet in the water, and is completely fenced off on all sides from the big pool so that there can be no escape of toddlers enticed by the waterslides. We haven't been to the pool so far this summer because I hesitate to go by myself with the boys. Holding a big fat baby and trying to supervise a highly mobile toddler who doesn't like to share did not sound like my idea of a good time. But when you have AnthonyCarlos there to entertain Isaac, as well as AnthonyCarlos's mommy to serve as another pair of eyes, it sounds doable. Add to that the first non-heat-stroke-causing day this week, and you bet your sweet Swim Dipe we're there.

Last summer we went to the pool once, and it took me 20 minutes to convince Isaac to get in. This time was quite different:

Jacob enjoyed himself, too. He liked being dipped in the pool, but mostly he was into the ear nibbles from the mama.

Then AnthonyCarlos's daddy arrived with some pizza and, bless that family, they fed us and then we waded some more. We stayed at the pool for three hours, and then it was time to drive to Starbucks for our bedtime Cow Milky before finally heading home for bed. Phew. I'm thinking everybody (including the mommy) will be sleeping well tonight.
