I so ty-werd

Three full days it's been, just me and the bruisers. Tick tock tick tock tick tock...

It hasn't been too bad. The only horrible part is the hot hot heat, whose unrelentingness really limits my activity repertoire. Add that to the lack of Dada-sponsored entertainment and you have one boooooooored little family. I refuse to plop The Boy in front of the TV too much, so our extreme boredom made us get a little, let's say, argumentative with each other tonight. Picture this: a mommy telling her boy that he has to stay in time-out until he eats a bite of his chicken nugget. Guess who won? (hint: it wasn't me!)

With perhaps a little more rest or leg-stretching, I would have come to my senses much earlier and realized that, yes, my son can survive on a dozen goldfish for his entire daily intake. I made it up to him. After I conceded that it really quite outrageous to ask that he so much as hold a chicken nugget, we went outside and played in the sprinkler, watering Dada's infant grass seeds and creating screaming toddler glee simultaneously. Now that's multitasking.

Today was worse than the others because Isaac only napped for 2 of his usual 3 hours this afternoon, and I, the silly woman I am, spent one of those hours horsing around on the internet instead of sleeping myself. So tonight I will be going to bed before one o'clock for once. There is a pile of dishes in the sink (from just today -- how did that happen again?) that will be left undone until the morning, a pile of baby-food-coated Jacob clothes that will remain untreated. It can all wait; the sitter's coming over tomorrow. As for tonight, there is only some quick blogging, a small and chilly glass of scotch, and a TiVoed episode of Project Runway standing between me and my squishy cozy bed.
