So, remember fussy Jacob? The Jacob who elicits a major freak-out from his mom? That Jacob has left the building.
We tried something just outrageous today. Stay with me, now. When he had fussed for two solid minutes and most major potential fuss-causes had been explored, I gave him a boob. He ate. He smiled. He burped and cooed. He even fell asleep this morning and slept in his crib (as in, not with mommy right next to him) for an hour and a half.
Parenthood...the great equalizer. We were totally due for a "Well, duh" moment with the Jacob, don't you think?
Now, while this may have seemed like an obvious solution to some of you (shut up, Dada), I wasn't feeding him when he fussed because a) most of the time he'd just had a boobie, and b) I don't want to be one of those moms who shoves a boob in my kid's face at every whimper. Well, I still won't be, but apparently he just wanted more food. My giant baby is having a growth spurt. Well, duh, mommy.
