What happens when academics reproduce

Classes! Classes classes classes! For my four-year-old.

We are lucky to live in this little-ish town with a very active parks & rec vibe. There are lots and lots of things for little people to do, especially little people who are four. As of today, I have completely filled up his July. Oh, the focused fun we shall have!

First, there is "Magical Storybook Theater Camp", for an hour and 15 minutes a day for four days. Each class starts with the reading of a different fairy tale, which he and 7 other kids will then reenact with props and costumes. The teacher directs them and videotapes their final performance, ending the day by showing the video off to the parents. If you know my Isaac at all, you might imagine that these four days will probably be the highlight of his life.

Next comes Tot Lot, filling up his morning from Monday through Friday for two weeks. Therein, he will glory in all that is right and good with being a kid in the summer, as vivacious and energetic teenagers lead him and about a dozen other kids through games, crafts, and songs.

Finally comes two weeks of swimming lessons, at a half-hour each. The lessons he's signed up for are for the "non-beginner", which in pool language only means that he's seen water before. We've also bought a membership to the pool so that we can hang out there whenever our hearts desire. By summer's end, my boys will resemble Chia Pets, with the brownest skin and greenest hair you've ever seen.
